Building Healthy Soil
When Kevin Elmy bought land near Yorkton in 1999 the organic matter was less than one percent. After years of working his land using regenerative practices he increased that to more than 6.5 percent.
Today, Elmy said he hasn’t bought nitrogen in more than a decade and it’s been years since he purchased phosphate or potash. He recently spent more on liquid humates than fertilizer and he’s reaping the benefits.
“This is when farming is fun,” - Elmy said.
